Chrome Wheels on your Mustang

A lot of Mustang enthusiasts are big fans of chrome wheels. After owning a few sets of chrome wheels myself, I don’t suggest buying them. Chrome is a very soft metal and can easily be chipped or scraped. Not to mention chrome pits after a year and can also flake away. It is possible to get a decent chrome rim, but most the aftermarket rims you see have cheap chrome jobs. Chroming is an art and has to be performed correctly or it will not hold up over time.

If you really want a set of chrome rims, I suggest buying a set of high polished rims, then sending them off to get chrome correctly. Make sure you research the chrome company before they chrome your rims.

Your other option is picking up a set of high polished forged aluminum rims that look just like chrome. Bare aluminum rims are stronger then chrome and will not pit like chrome. Plus if you ever get any kind of curb rash, you can sand the spot down with high grit sand paper then buff it back to a shiny finish.

Just my ten cents on chrome rims!
